It's the last day of April, 7th Grade!!!
The last few days we spent learning about what happened to African Americans during the war effort. We learned about the Emancipation Proclamation that freed the slaves in the South and then an African American regiment, known as the 54th Massachusetts.
Now, it is April of 1865. General Grant has General Lee surrounded. Lee knows he is losing the war and he needs to end it before more of his men are killed. Watch the following video to find out what occurred to end this bloody conflict on April 9, 1865. As you are watching, take notes. You will need the notes to complete the activity!
